Cuba Fam Trip March 19-23, 2025
Cuba, situated in the Caribbean Sea, is an island nation with a rich history and vibrant culture. Following the 1959 Cuban Revolution led by Fidel Castro, the country adopted communism and aligned itself with the Soviet Union during the Cold War. This led to strained relations with the United States, which imposed a trade embargo on Cuba, impacting its economy significantly.
Despite economic challenges, Cuba boasts a well-regarded healthcare system and a strong focus on education, resulting in high literacy rates and universal education. The country's culture is a blend of Spanish, African, and indigenous influences, expressed through music, dance, and cuisine.
In recent years, Cuba has undergone some economic reforms, allowing for limited private enterprise and increased tourism. However, political freedoms remain restricted under the single-party rule of the Communist Party of Cuba.
Overall, Cuba is a complex nation with a fascinating mix of history, politics, and culture, continuing to navigate its path amid changing global dynamics and diplomatic relations.
